Notes From Your Interim Principal - Gizelle Lev

Gizelle Lev Interim Principal glev@framingham.k12.ma.us
Hello Families and Caregivers,

Please scroll through carefully for important information. Topics include:

  • Interim Vice Principal Announcement
  • Opt out Link for Health Screenings and other notes from Nurse Lisa
  • Family Support Coordinator Newsletter Link

Interim Vice Principal Emily Rubin

It is my pleasure to announce that while I continue to serve as your interim principal, Ms. Emily Rubin will be serving as your interim vice principal. Many of you know Ms. Rubin as our Social Emotional Behavior Coach. Your children know her because she works with all grade levels and facilitates our monthly community meetings. Due to her extensive knowledge of all our students and her ongoing support of staff and admin, it was the most natural decision to appoint her as interim vice principal. It is a large school with over 680 students and consistent collaboration with students and families is best met with three administrators instead of two.

In order to ensure timely communication and personalized oversight of students, families and staff we have divided who will oversee each grade level.

Interim Principal Gizelle Lev will continue to serve Kindergarten and Grade 5.

Vice Principal Lauren Foley will serve Grades 1 and 2.

Interim Vice Principal Emily Rubin will serve Grades 3 and 4.

Notes from Nurse Lisa

  • Please do not send your children with cleats. If they need to bring them, they cannot wear them outside to play. They're causing a lot of injuries outside at recess.
  • We will be holding health screenings soon. If you would like to opt out please fill out this form.
  • Please do not send kids if they have been vomiting or have had a fever within 24 hours (they tell adults at school even if the parents don’t think they do haha).
  • I am missing a lot of updated K and 4th grade physicals that are mandatory by the state of MA. Email is best. (LSilverio@framingham.k12.ma.us). Any/all allergy or asthma meds should be in by now too. Parents/Guardians must personally bring them. If any student has new health conditions please advise the nurse.
  • Every student needs a change of clothing, especially if they have accidents so we can avoid needing to have parents leave work and bring a change of clothing.
  • Please send students with water bottles. I have maybe 5-6 for students who are in true need. If you need support in getting water bottles, please reach out to our Family Support and Partnership Coordinator Yesenia Gaudet (ygaudet@framingham.k12.ma.us)

Thank you so much!

Additional Frequently Asked Questions

1. What if my child is sick and can't come to school?

Please call the attendance line 508-626-9187 and leave your child's name, their teacher's name and reason for absence. You can also email barattendance@framingham.k12.ma.us

You can also obtain more information from our Framingham Attendance Office here.

2. What if my child has a change in dismissal plan?

Please call the attendance line 508-626-9187. You can also email barattendance@framingham.k12.ma.us and send a note to school with your child to give to his or her teacher.

3. What if I don't have a bus and I have no way of getting my child to school?

By law, your child is expected to come to school every day unless they are sick and have an excused absence. It is the family and caregiver's responsibility to find a solution to this in order to avoid any further legal consequences. Please contact Department of Transportation for any bus inquires.

4. Can my child eat breakfast for free at school every day?

Yes, breakfast is served starting at 8:50AM. Students are expected to eat quickly and be ready to start the day in the classroom no later than 9:15AM.

5. Can my child eat lunch for free at school every day?

Yes, lunch is free at school. Please refer to the monthly menu on the Framingham Public School Website to see what is being served daily.

6. Should I pack a snack for my child?

Yes, however it is not guaranteed that there will be a separate time during the day to eat their snack. Students may have a working snack which means that the snack you pack can be eaten quickly and cleaned up quickly. Your teacher can provide a list of suggestions if requested.

7. Does my child have recess?

Yes, your child has 30 minutes in their schedule for recess.

8. Why is my child being marked tardy?

Students entering the building after 9:05AM will be marked unexcused tardy. Students arriving BEFORE 9:05AM enter through Door 12. Students arriving AFTER 9:05 must enter through Door 1 with an adult and obtain a tardy pass. There will be traffic on Dudley Road. Please plan accordingly.

9. What if I have any questions regarding curriculum, instruction, and how behavior skills are addressed and taught?

Your first contact should be your child's teacher. Depending on the question or concern, they will then ensure the right staff member addresses your questions and concerns.

10. How is unskilled behavior addressed in the school?

Please refer to the Full Code of Character, Conduct and Support.  If you have any questions, please contact the classroom teacher.
